Title: Advancement Manager
Reports to: Managing Director

Pay: $21,000 annually
Position Purpose
The Advancement Manager serves as the vital fundraising and marketing lead of the organization and reports to the Managing Director. This role will work closely with the Managing Director and with the Development and Marketing/Communications Committees to refine and manage goals, carry out strategy, and implement all details related to Trademark’s fundraising and sales. Key responsibilities will include crafting funding and marketing narratives for campaigns and events informed by the artistic and strategic vision, cultivating relationships with individual donors, and finding new sources of funding from grants, foundations, corporations, and government sources. The position also creates and manages all Trademark marketing and communications content, strategy and budgets.
The hours required for this position will vary greatly from month to month, with an average of approximately 10-30 hours per week, depending on Trademark’s programming and public offerings. Founded in 2017 by award-winning theater artist Tyler Michaels King, Trademark Theater is in its seventh season of presenting bold, new theatrical works in the vibrant Twin Cities arts community. Trademark's mission seeks to create, develop, and produce original theatrical works in Minnesota by staging innovative productions for adventurous local audiences. Our non-profit theater is committed to serving both theater-goers and artists by commissioning and fostering new plays created by emerging playwrights, composer/lyricists, and theater-makers.
Because of Trademark’s commitment to high-quality entertainment, our organization invests in extensive workshop and development processes for all of our productions. Each development timeline can range from 1.5 years, to 4 years or more. From conception to full production, Trademark guides both the art and the artist to discover the most impactful interpretation of each story told.

The scope of work per season usually entails supporting 1 full production, 2 workshops/readings, 1 gala event, and various fundraisers/private events.
Administrative Duties and Responsibilities
Serve as a core member of Trademark’s Staff.
Participate in Staff, Board, and Committee meetings.
Manage Trademark’s CRM database to create, maintain, and track patron, board and donor histories and communications.
Development Duties and Responsibilities
Work with the Managing Director and Development Committee to set goals and create strategy for all development activities, including Annual Fund Campaigns, Project Sponsorships, Galas, Give to the Max Day, and other fundraising opportunities throughout the year.
Cultivate and steward a diverse portfolio of donors.
Research new potential funding sources, including grants, foundations, and corporate giving.
Work with the Development Committee, Managing Director, and Grant Writer to build narratives for grant applications.
Prepare and submit reports to funders with input from appropriate staff and board committees.
Maintain a calendar of proposals, submissions and reporting deadlines for past, current, and potential grant applications.
Write, edit, and proof all on-line and hard copy prospecting letters.
Assist Artistic Director and Managing Director with scheduling meetings with foundations, corporations and donors, coordinating meeting materials and providing follow-up notes.
Plan and execute fundraising and cultivation events and Opening Nights; manage guest lists, rsvp’s, volunteers, and on-site logistics.
Ensure proper acceptance, allocation, and recognition of gifts in accordance with IRS and donor requirements.
Marketing Responsibilities and Duties
Work with the Managing Director and Marketing/Communications Committee to create and maintain the overall marketing and communications plan for each of trademarks seasons, including but not limited to campaigns for productions, readings, commissions, and season announcements, and other events.
Maintain, and execute strategies for direct mail, social media platforms, email, press releases, special event invitations, website, video content, and collateral.
Collaborate with the Managing Director in developing the annual marketing budget.
Create and/or coordinate content and schedules for Trademark’s social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, etc.).
Oversee and collaborate with the social media contractor on promotional campaigns, when applicable.
Establish ticket sales goals, schedules, and comprehensive strategy, including ticket pricing and discounts.
Create graphic designs for projects, events, and campaigns; uphold and champion Trademark’s brand identity.
Integrate all channels of communication for consistency of style, brand and messaging.
Track email and digital marketing campaign metrics.
Monitor, listen, and respond to social media users to cultivate audiences and sales.
Compile sales reports, as needed or requested.
Desired Qualifications
3+ years experience in arts marketing and/or fundraising.
An Arts, Communications, or Marketing degree is welcome but not required with relevant work experience.
Professional theater experience of any kind is a plus.
Demonstrates creativity and documented immersion in social media.
Proficient in content marketing theory and application.
Experience with Bloomerang or other CRM software.
Experience with Canva, Photoshop, or similar software.
Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Self-directed with excellent knowledge of fundraising and marketing strategies.
Highly responsible with the ability to maintain confidential information.
Ability to exercise excellent diplomacy, respect and sensitivity to all constituents.
Creative thinker excited to explore innovative approaches to donor and audience development.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as editing a proofreading.
Strong artistic and aesthetic sensibility.
Proficiency with design programs such as Adobe Creative Suites (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign) and/or Canva.
Displays in-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms, their respective participants, and how each platform can be utilized in different scenarios.
Excellent time management skills. Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
Must be committed and highly flexible to the needs of a growing company.
Good interpersonal skills, positive attitude; needs to have capacity for compassion, empathy, collaboration, and resourcefulness.

Working Conditions
Trademark Theater does not have designated offices. The individual must be able to perform the majority of their work from home, or from an independent location.
This position requires extensive use of the computer and telephone. Ability to travel locally required. Must be able to work some nights and weekends.
